1-1455-1 and 200 babies

Image 3 from a series of 6.

Imprisoned in Tjideng and two other Japanese prisoner of war camps, my mother and grandmother were amongst those who drew the faces of 200 babies and small children who had died suddenly. Their faces were drawn for the missing fathers. My grandmother was identified as 1-1455-1 and my mother now a teenager, photographed on board a ship in the Suez Canal returning to Holland.
